The Short Answer

What a DMC in Egypt Actually Does.

A destination management company is the local operator standing behind a holiday the traveller bought somewhere else. We are the team on the ground in Egypt — so the brand that sold the trip never has to be.

When a tour operator in London, an OTA in Berlin, or a travel agency in New York sells an Egypt holiday, someone in Egypt has to make it real: meet the flight, brief the guide, confirm the hotel, run the Nile cruise embarkation, and answer the phone at 2 a.m. if a return transfer is at risk. That is the work of a destination management company, and it is what this trade desk exists to do.

This site is our business-to-business desk. Like most destination management companies, Discovery Tours Egypt also sells directly to travellers — but the two stay separate on purpose: we never take a programme built around a partner’s requirements, rates, or clients and resell it to the public. You keep the client relationship and set your own margin; we supply transparent net rates, a fixed scope agreed before arrival, and a single point of accountability for the whole programme. The model is simple on purpose — fewer hand-offs, fewer surprises, one team that owns the result. You can read exactly how a day is planned and protected in our operating framework.

Discovery Tours Egypt has done this since 1988, under the same name and ownership, holding the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism’s top-tier Class A licence without a lapse. Today our active trade-partner book stretches across four continents, and partners stay with us for an average of seven years.

Since 1988

Thirty-Eight Years on the Same Ground.

Egypt has changed a great deal since 1988. The discipline of meeting a flight on time and getting a group home safely has not.

  1. 1988

    Founded in Cairo

Discovery Tours Egypt opens as a licensed inbound operator in Cairo, building the supplier relationships — drivers, guides, hotels — that still anchor our ground network.

  2. 1990s–2000s

    Ground network deepens

Operations scale across Cairo and Giza — the Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum, Saqqara, Islamic and Coptic Cairo — with a growing in-house team rather than booking-by-booking subcontracting.

  3. 2014

    Permanent Luxor base

A dedicated operations base opens in Luxor for Upper Egypt — Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Medinet Habu and the west-bank tombs — putting our own people on the ground rather than relying on third parties.

  4. Following years

    Five operating regions

Coverage extends through the Nubian corridor (Aswan and Abu Simbel), the Red Sea resorts and cruise ports, and Alexandria on the Mediterranean — the five regions we operate today.

  5. 2026

    Trade partners on four continents

IATA-accredited and an ETAA member, Discovery Tours Egypt serves tour operators, agencies, OTAs, MICE planners and cruise lines worldwide, with an average seven-year partner relationship.

Coverage

Where We Operate.

Five regions, one operator. Each is run by our own ground team — not a chain of local subcontractors you never meet.

Cairo & Giza

Head office

The Pyramids and Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum and Egyptian Museum, Saqqara, Memphis and Dahshur, Islamic and Coptic Cairo, and the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. Our operational core since 1988.

Luxor

Base since 2014

Karnak and Luxor Temples on the east bank; the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and Medinet Habu on the west. Ballooning, dahabiya and cruise embarkation coordinated locally.

Aswan & Abu Simbel

Nubian corridor

Philae Temple, the High Dam, Kom Ombo and Edfu, the Nubian villages, and the Abu Simbel temples — by road or short flight, timed around cruise and convoy windows.

Red Sea

Resorts & ports

Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab and El Gouna for resort stays and diving; Safaga and Sokhna ports for cruise shore excursions with guaranteed ship return.

Alexandria & Mediterranean

Coastal & port

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Qaitbay Citadel, the Catacombs and Greco-Roman Museum, port operations, and El Alamein day trips along the Mediterranean coast.

Connecting it all

Transfers & flights

Airport and inter-city transfers, IATA-ticketed domestic flights on EgyptAir and Air Cairo, and rail — so a Cairo–Luxor–Aswan–Red Sea programme moves as one booking.

The Working Model

How We Work With Trade Partners.

Most of what separates a reliable DMC from a cheap one is invisible until something goes wrong. Here is what we hold constant.

Net rates, no commissions

You receive transparent net pricing and set your own margin. We never take shop commissions or sell behind you to your client. What you quote is what we deliver.

One accountable team

A senior account manager owns your file from quotation through ops handover, backed by a colleague briefed on your account. No ticket queue, no anonymous hand-offs.

In-house operations

Guides, drivers, dispatch and on-ground reps are our own long-term team and vetted suppliers — not a different subcontractor every booking. Consistency is the product.

Fixed scope, agreed early

Routes, inclusions, timing and contingencies are defined before arrival, so there is no ambiguity about what is delivered or what it costs.

24/7 live-program desk

Once a group is in country, our operations desk monitors every active file and answers on WhatsApp within minutes. Silence is the failure mode we actively prevent.

Licensed and verifiable

Class A Ministry of Tourism licence, ETAA #718, IATA #90255546, full insurance — every credential is real and independently verifiable for your contract file.

The operational detail lives in our operating framework, safety standards, and oversight & monitoring pages.
